Debate Review: Richard Hanania vs Jared Taylor

A review of the recent debate on race between Richard Hanania and Jared Taylor

When I approached the debate, I initially expected it to be an uphill battle for Mr. Taylor, as Richard Hanania is a former White nationalist. In contrast, had Jared Taylor faced off against someone like Vaush or ContraPoints, I’d anticipate an easy victory for him, given that neither of them seems particularly versed in the matter of White nationalism. They don’t know the arguments, just the strawman that their side makes of them. Richard is different.

It is no coincidence that the strongest anti-communists were people who at some point in their lives were followers of the ideology. Karl Popper, Thomas Sowell, and Milton Friedman are celebrated champions of capitalism, liberalism, and limited government precisely because their intimate understanding of communism enabled them to dismantle it with authority. They were the insiders and they knew the arguments of Marxists better than Marxists themselves. If I were to factor myself into the equation, given my familiarity with both sides of the JQ, I believe I could construct a thesis that surpasses the thesis of either Nathan Cofnas or Kevin MacDonald. Why? Because I understand the arguments on both sides.

For this reason and because Richard Hanania has a high verbal ability, I was concerned that this could be the first instance of Jared Taylor being defeated in a debate. While we may laugh at Banania for his trolling and inability to take criticism, blocking everyone who views him as a lolcow, he is still a serious heavyweight intellectually.

Before delving into my thorough examination of the debate, I’ll provide an overview of the arguments from both sides—Taylor’s and Hanania’s. Jared Taylor:

• everyone else is doing identity politics while white identity politics are demonized.

• a nation is not a copmany, cohesion is necessary.

• familiarity and kinship, not economic superiority is what makes a cohesive society.

• the US was founded as a White nation.

• assimilation doesn’t work.

• people think of themselves in kinship groups and its natural.

• Whites people are being exploited and so my advocacy is justified.

• I value the uniqueness of nations and the enduring existence of races in their historical forms, intermixing different races in one place, leads to the overall destruction of races and their unique contributions.

• if I ran the media in the United states, millions and millions of Whites would agree with me < Taylor later advocates moderate White advocacy.

• discussing racial differences will lead to being deplatformed, yet it remains the only effective defense against race-based redistributionism.

• the existence of White flight proves that race triumphs the economy.

• non-Whites who migrate West, recognize the West as being superior. If enough non-Westerners come to our society, it will cease to be Western.

• diversity is not good.
