First I’d like to apologize for being inactive for such a long time. Today, I am launching a mini-series exploring the rightward shift among the youth. The first post will compile all of the existence evidence without commentary. In the upcoming post, available to paid subscribers, I will delve into the underlying reasons behind this trend. If the reception is great it may culminate in a YouTube video.
Support of Rightist Parties:
United States:
2024 election result, very gendered but young White men are significantly more right wing than older White men.
President Trump’s approval rating by age:
More data on racial and intergenerational shift:
20-30 year old White men are now the most conservative group in America.
Canadian Data:
I know that this is already antiquated and the Canadian Conservatives are very much milk toasted, however if you look at the support for People’s Party (a populist Libertarian and socially conservative party) it has definitely increased by 6 times in relation to the oldest cohort.
The EU:
European data does not demonstrate a continues right-ward shift, but demonstrates an exhaustion with mainstream rightist politics and a preference for the “far-right” over them. A rightward shift stops among those younger than 24 whereas in the US and Canada it is a continues trend.
Old data on the share of people who would like to live in a democracy sorted by their birth.
Social Attitudes:
The acceptability of violence (does not imply right-wing given that it is higher on the left, however it does imply a radicalization of the youth):
Support for 1984 style politics
Support for authoritarian mode of government (data is from the UK out of all places)
Intergenerational attitudes towards extreme right-wing ideologies
Attitude towards Hitler:
Beliefs in conspiracy theories:
Slight decline in the support for gay marriage among Generation Z (almost a third of whom are queer themselves)
Attitudes towards Feminism and Anti-Male Discrimination:
Views of Andrew Tate in the UK:
Endorsement of Biorealism by age:
Religious or spiritual revival?
Israel and the Jewish Question:
Support for the Arms Embargo of Israel (obviously it is more prevalent on the Left)
Support of of Israel among Evangelicals (data predates the Gazan genocide)
Explicit antisemitic beliefs by age:
If you come across any relevant data that could enrich my analysis, feel free to share it with me. I will incorporate it into my next post, where I will provide a detailed explanation. Sorry once again for being inactive. I am slowly coming back to Substack and YouTube. Expect to see a new video as early as mid-April.
