I have decided to look over the “Elite Human Capital” ranking of various European countries in an effort to maximize internal European division by arguing who is superior than who. And it is certainly a difficult undertaking, Emil Kierkegaard went over a review of the smart fraction theory and even arrived at some results yet these results were mostly related to the 95th+ percentile and the ability of that percentile to dictate politics. My undertaking is more descriptive, and focused on the absolute gigachad genius demographic which wins Nobel Prizes and troons out after watching anime.
Now, when it comes to genius, it is not “just IQ”, although it is overwhelmingly IQ. First and foremost, a genius needs an environment that is receptive to his expression, and secondly a genius, according to Jensen must posses a combination of the following three traits:
High general intelligence (two standard deviations above the mean)
High Creativity Traits (two standard deviations above the mean)
High Productivity (two standard deviations above the mean)
Genius = High Ability X High Productivity X High Creativity.
Given that it is very difficult, if not impossible to arrive at the last two criteria of a genius for European countries, given the low quality of the data and questionable methodology (are we looking at average amount of hours spent working? the unemployment rate?), I have focused only on the high IQ part. That said, even Jensen himself, living in the Western world, may have overlooked certain cultural or economic predispositions that foster the expression of genius.
For instance, three thousand years ago, Europeans were on average more intelligent than today, yet they clearly haven’t put it to any proper use, just as North Koreans possess one of the highest IQs in their world, yet, economically they perform on par with the lowest Sub-Saharan African countries.
Anyways, here is my methodology:
I calculated the number of individuals within a country’s population who fall into the 130 and 145 IQ ranges by combining population figures with average national IQs and applying standard statistical methods.
I have taken the most accurate national estimate of IQ developed by Emil Kierkegaard and Sebastian Jensen. It is an improved version of the highly cited Lynn’s estimate, equipped with newer data. Its correlation with national development approaches (r = .9), while Lynn’s data fluctuated between 0.64 and 0.82, depending on a year.
So when it comes to IQ averages my work certainly shines best except for few edge cases. For example, the IQ estimates were taken before the start of mass scale migration into the West following the Covid-pandemic. For example, the data for Canadian IQ was collected when Canada’s population was much smaller than it is today, and so with the recent influx of Indian Human Capital, I expect Canada’s IQ to decline to about 99-98, thus significantly downgrading their 145+IQ estimate to 40,255 people.
Similarly, some Ukrainian estimates were taken after a full scale Russian invasion after many educated Ukrainians have left the country, causing a massive brain drain and lower the average Ukrainian IQ from Lynn’s 96 to around 92.25. Other people may also be pissed that I counted the occupied Ukrainian territories for the Russian statistics. My justification is that because there is no realistic chance for Ukraine to ever get these territories back, I had to add 4 extra million people (excluding the capital of Kherson and Zaporizhia) to Russia.
The final and most evident limitation of the study lies in its reliance on a standard IQ distribution model, which renders it inadequate for capturing the outflow of human capital from countries whose elites are migrating to more developed nations just as it is difficult to account for nations with highly diverse ethnic compositions, such as Brazil and the United States.
For example, if we assume the average IQ of White Americans is 101, then the number of White Americans in the 130+ IQ (5,433,775 vs. 5,372,000) and 145+ IQ (343,186 vs. 278,800) categories surpasses the total number of Americans in these IQ ranges (for reference that would be the second number). Likewise, if America was made out of 40 million Ashkenazi Jews and 400 million Blacks, while it’s average IQ would be way below 90, the amount of people in the 130+IQ and 145+IQ category would be higher than it is in the present.
Because it is difficult to make these estimations for every nation (after spending countless hours researching the data for Israel, Russia and the United States), I made the decision to only focus on the averages, bypassing demographic clusters which somewhat distort the picture.
In any event, I present to you the work I wasted over 30 hours making! Here are the numbers:
Hope you can see the numbers! If not, here are the numbers for the 145 IQ plus cohort:
Total Rvzzian Victory. Also I forgot about Cyprus, but who cares. I won’t make any further commentary and instead present to you the raw data. If you scroll further enough, there will be more graphs.
After numerous requests, I added a per-capita map!
